The Public Outreach Program aims to promote Palestinian contemporary culture and life through creative encounters that target primarily the younger generation of artists and performers. It is a platform to showcase young talent in music, art, literature and cinema, as well as presenting a rich program of talks and performances about the city and its history, interpolated by an assortment of culinary activities involving local chefs and non-professional members of the community. Artists, writers, historians, musicians and performers are invited to give public performances including talks, discussions, readings, shows and film screenings with the aim to bring together community members and creative individuals in a shared space for experimentation, entertainment and free expression.

Other Realities: The Alhambra

Javier Abella

November 25, 2015 - December 4, 2015

Other Realities: The Alhambra is a photographic exhibition featuring the work of Spanish photographer Javier Abella, which will take the viewer on a visual journey of the world-renowned monumental compound. The author unveils nuances and contrasts by displaying negative images rather than "conventional" photographs. In short, the viewer will discover another Alhambra, different but essentially the same monument that made many others declare it was the most beautiful view of the world.

The Alhambra is another chapter in Abella's Other Realities series, which have included photographs of cities including: Madrid, Santander, and Berlin. Abella is able to disclose hidden nuances not found in conventional photography, adding great value to what the camera usually captures.

Javier Abella is a Spanish photographer, born in Madrid in 1971. He studied photography at the School of Photography and Cinema EFTI and has exhibited at the AC Gallery of Contemporary Art, Estampa in Madrid, Puro Arte in Vigo, the Chamber Maruja Mallo, and the Museum of San Isidro in Madrid.
