The Artist-in-Residence Program provides local and visiting artists, curators, and researchers with accomodation and studio facilities at the Tile Factory, providing a unique space for the creation, development and exchange of creative ideas and projects. The program serves most of all as a meeting place for artists: facilitating creative encounters, discussions and the exchange of experiences, and then opening these up to the public, acting as a conduit to the outside world.

In a sense, the residency acts as an incubator for the creation and exchange of ideas, experiences and representations. In the course of residency, our public - both within the region and further afield - are encouraged to engage with activities planned to help create awareness of one's own cultural difference and uniqueness. Each artist is given the opportunity to propose and focus on a particular project while in residence, which may be influenced or inspired by the reality of daily life in the city, the country and the region. Opportunities to work with local artists and the local community during the residencies will be plentiful and strongly encouraged.

Riham and Fares Isaac

In our daily life we see masks instead of faces, read thoughts instead of feelings; human connection is becoming less within the chaotic world and its isolation. However if we look deep inside our souls we will find a spontaneous, transparent and honest human screaming to go out into the world...And this person is the Clown.

"I am You", a performance by Riham Isaac is the first of its kind and she uses different art disciplines: video, music, poems, and movement. What is special about this performance is the spontaneity and sincerity of the material used, such as poems, drawings, mysic and videos. Most of them are based on different, real interactions of the artist's daily life.

Directing and performance: Riham Isaac

After he left the conservatory he started experimenting with other wind instruments; clarinet and nay (oriental flute) which became his main instruments. On September 2015 he graduaded in Music Therapy at SRH University of Heidelberg-Germany which enriched his music composition and its affect on human psyche. Fares has a unique style of improvisation which he uses in composing and in his therapeutic work. Faris is also interested in working with other art disciplines such as performance that can enrich him and challenge his potentials.

Riham Isaac (1983) is a Performance Artist and an emerging female director from Palestine. Born and raised in Beit-Sahour a town near Bethlehem it was challenging for her to pursue acting and art which made her get her undergraduate degree in physiotherapyin 2005. However she decided to follow her passion in art and since 2006 she has been working as a performer mainly in theater productions with both Palestinian and international theater companies and has toured all around the world with those productions. In 2013, emerging from the bold and influential stage work, Riham got the chance to study art and get her MA degree in ‘Performance Making’ from Goldsmiths – University of London which made her realize her potential in Performance and motivated her to initiate her own project. She is now engaged in many different art forms, theater, music, dance, contemporary visual arts and sound art and in her own work she embraces a wide range of those mediums and merges it with her experience in movement and acting with the sense of being a choreographer of those mediums. She is also very keen to create performances in unfamiliar spaces, intervening in public space and getting back to popular art. In few years she wishes to establish her own theater company and introduce brave live art performances in Palestine and collaborate with other artists in different disciplines who share her same passion.
